Staffies are the most loving dogs; great with people and they enjoy children. Sadly they are being over bred and many are losing their lives very young, needlessly, and tragically in our throw away society. They are wonderful, wonderful loving dogs. The press and, consequently the public, have falsely related them to banned breeds, their reputation has been wrongly tarnished. In truth they are the MOST FAMILY FRIENDLY of all breeds. Rescue centres shun them as 'there just aren't the good homes out there for them' ... "hum, hum we beg to differ"! Staffies have always been known as the nanny dog who adore children and people in general.
Staffies and the Police: We home a lot to professional people especially the police. So why are so many police choosing to own a Staffie as their personal family dog ... because they know the breed. They have been up close and very comfortable when they held responsibilities for strays ... they adore them and many went straight into police homes rather than rescue centres when they ran out of time. As with any breed, some Staffies are more aloof and aren't interested in dogs, whilst others are very fluent and playful. We have never met a Staffie that 'wants to get' at other dogs. We haven't had an ex-fighter in out of hundreds. All dogs can make mistakes if rushed or challenged by another dog and the public are nervous. But they are being won over by the wonderful Staffies and Staffie crosses that are out there as ambassadors for their breed type. Many Staffies arrive on our doorstep having bounced through a succession of homes becoming all rounders as an outcome. Remarkable attributes. We don't apologise for helping Staffies - it is our honour and very great pleasure ... indeed it could be yours to own one. We take your general confidence level into consideration when steering you towards a particular dog. We will ensure you don't find yourself out of your depth. It may surprise you to know that some of our Staffies need to be homed with other dogs, while some would prefer being only dogs.
Look to the dog not the breed label and you'll see many aspects of what you look for in your dog are there in a Staffie/Staffie x. Some are 'chunky Staffies, but many are less muscular and slender crossbreeds. We are here standing proud and supporting our dogs and homes. Staffies are winning through. More and more people are discovering what fantastic dogs they are because their hearts have led them to rescue a Staffie! |
